To 21 Erie St:
From the North
Take 93 South
- Take Exit 30 towards Somerville.
- Turn left onto Route 38 (Mystic Ave.).
- Make right onto Route 28 at intersection with a park on your right.
- Straight through a few lights on this three lane highway, until bridge.
- Go over a bridge and bear left onto an elevated road. (McGrath Hwy).
- Take a right just before the Museum of Science onto Land Boulevard.
- Land Boulevard becomes Memorial Drive.
- Stay in the right lane and take a right onto Massachusetts Avenue.
- Take a left after MIT onto Albany Street.
- Albany Street becomes Erie Street.
- Metabolix is in the first building on your right at 21 Erie Street, 2nd Floor. Parking is available next to the building.
From the South
Take Routes 3/93 to Boston
- Exit onto Storrow Drive.
- Take the Cambridge Exit over the Longfellow Bridge.
- Exit right immediately after the bridge onto Memorial Drive.
- Stay in the right lane and take a right onto Massachusetts Avenue.
- Pass MIT and take a left onto Albany Street.
- Albany Street becomes Erie Street.
- Metabolix is in the first building on your right at 21 Erie Street, 2nd Floor. Parking is available next to the building.
From the West
Leave the Mass. Pike (from the left lanes) on exit 18 Cambridge
- After the tolls, follow the signs for Cambridge on the exit ramp (stay in the right lane).
- Drive straight through two sets of lights, crossing the Charles River and move into the right lane.
- Immediately after crossing over the river, turn right in front of the Mobil Gas Station onto Memorial Drive. The Charles River should be on your right.
- Take the ramp towards Brookline/Kenmore Square but bear left around the rotary and take a right onto Brookline Street towards Cambridge.
- Take a right onto Erie Street which is about six streets up on the right. Cross Sidney Street.
- Metabolix is in the next block at 21 Erie Street, 2nd Floor just after the parking garage on your left. Parking is available in the garage next to the building.
From Logan Airport
- Follow the signs for Downtown and the Sumner Tunnel ($3.50 toll), entering the tunnel in the left hand lane.
- Follow signs to Interstate 93 North.
- Leave Interstate-93 at the Storrow Drive exit.
- Join Storrow Drive, stay in the left hand lane.
- Exit left when you see the Kendall Square sign.
- At the end of the exit ramp turn right onto the Longfellow Bridge. Cross the Charles River into Cambridge.
- Exit right immediately after the bridge onto Memorial Drive. Stay in the right lane and take a right onto Massachusetts Avenue.
- Pass MIT and take a left onto Albany Street.
- Albany Street becomes Erie Street.
- Metabolix in the first building on your right at 21 Erie Street, 2nd Floor. Parking is available in the garage next to the building.
Public Transportation
Several bus lines as well as the subway stop in Central Square. Take the Red Line to the Central Square T station.
Outbound: Trains exit to the north side of Mass Avenue - cross the street to the south side then follow directions below.
Inbound: Trains exit to the south side of Mass Avenue, near the intersection with Magazine St and Western Ave. Walk East on Mass Ave, away from the main intersection, passing a CVS and Dunkin Donuts on your right. On the horizon you can see a tall skyscraper (the Prudential Center) to indicate you are going the right direction. Continue walking East on Mass Ave until you reach Sydney street, just past the firehouse. Turn right on Sidney street and continue down to Erie Street (just after passing Immunogen). Turn left on Erie Street and look for Metabolix in the last building on the left-hand side of the street.
Metabolix is at 21 Erie Street, 2nd Floor.

One Kendall Square
Building 1400 W 4th Floor
One Kendall Square, between Hampshire and Binney Streets. When you come out of the garage, walk directly across Binney Street and through the big arch that says "One Kendall Square." Building 1400 is on the right. Turn right and walk along Building 1400 to entrance 1400W. We are on the 4th floor.
By the MBTA:
- Take the Red Line to the Kendall Square/MIT stop. From the T-stop, walk two blocks down Main Street, away from the Charles River, to the intersection of Main Street and Vassar Street.
- Take a right, and walk down one block to Broadway.
- On Broadway, take a left, and walk a short distance to the fork intersection of Hampshire St. and Broadway.
- Take the right fork to Hampshire St.
- One Kendall Square is located half a block from the intersection of Hampshire St. and Broadway, on your right-hand side.
From points South:
- Take 95N to 93N and proceed through Boston to exit 26 (Cambridge/Storrow Drive).
- Follow signs for Storrow Drive, then take the Kendall Square/Government Center exit (on left).
- At end of the ramp, bear right to Kendall Square and go over Longfellow Bridge.
- Once you've crossed the bridge, keep driving on Broadway for three lights, and you will reach the fork intersection of Hampshire St. and Broadway.
- Take the right fork to Hampshire St.
- One Kendall Square is located half a block from the intersection of Hampshire St. and Broadway, on your right-hand side.
From 93 North:
- Take Exit 26 to Storrow Drive/North Station. Stay in left lane toward Storrow Drive.
- Go up the ramp on far left (Government Center/Kendall Square) and off the ramp to right onto entrance of Longfellow Bridge.
- Once you've crossed the bridge, keep driving on Broadway for three lights, and you will reach the fork intersection of Hampshire St. and Broadway.
- Take the right fork to Hampshire St.
- One Kendall Square is located half a block from the intersection of Hampshire St. and Broadway, on your right-hand side.
From Logan Airport

- Follow signs for Storrow Drive, then take the Kendall Square/ Government Center exit (on left).

From the Mass Pike:
- Take the Mass Pike to Exit 18 (Cambridge/Allston) and get in right lane.
- Drive over bridge and take right onto Memorial Drive. Follow Memorial Drive past The BU Bridge and The Mass Avenue (or Harvard) Bridge.
- At the next fork after the Mass Ave. Bridge, bear right.
- Drive ~ 1/4 mile to the intersection with Binney street, and turn left to Binney.
- Drive down Binney St., which winds left after 3 blocks.
- At the next intersection, turn right to Broadway, and immediately take the right fork to Hampshire Street.
- One Kendall Square is located half a block from the intersection of Hampshire St. and Broadway, on your right-hand side.
To Telles:
Traveling on I-495 North or South: Take exit 35C to the Lowell Connector. Follow the directions below.
To UMass Lowell North, LeLacheur Park, Wannalancit Mills or Tsongas Arena from the Lowell Connector:
From the Connector, take Exit 5B onto Thorndike St. After four traffic lights (1/2 mile), Thorndike St. bears right and becomes Dutton St. Continue on Dutton St. about 1/2 mile to Merrimack Street by City Hall. Proceed straight onto Arcand Drive. At the end of Arcand Drive, the Tsongas Arena is straight ahead.
Turn left at the traffic light onto Morissette Blvd. Wannalancit Mills is one block on the right.
Visitor Parking is in the Parking Lot on the right directly across from 650 Suffolk Street and the Security Office.
