Telles™ Product Development Engineer
Key Job Responsibilities:
• Work with Telles scientists , Metabolix legal and Intellectual Property (IP)  group  to define program plans to support  data development for patent applications and IP activity 
• Document work in detailed and accurately complete notebook
• Serve as the interface with University of Massachusetts – Lowell and Telles lab testing and compounding center
• Conduct  technology develop by contributing new technical ideas and approaches
Qualifications:
• Basic industrial  experience of  2-5 years  in polymer   formulation  or related field
• Solid understanding of  fundamental  polymer processing   technology
• Proven experience in new product development.
• Minimum of BS   degree   in   polymer science or related field.
• Hands-on experience in polymer testing methods
• Organized, independent, detailed oriented, capable of working under pressure   on multiple tasks and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Enthusiastic with   demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Demonstrated skills in conflict management and the ability to resolve issues.
• Demonstrated ability to create and give presentations
• Able to communicate well, both orally and written.
Travel:   Expected travel is global and > 15%

Telles™ Product Development Scientist – Product Stewardship
Key Job Responsibilities
:
• Provide direct product stewardship support to the Telles global business for the Mirel product line
• Monitor and interpret product regulations and assure compliance of Mirel products
• Support monitoring of global regulations
• Participate in relative industry associations 
• Support manufacturing, R&D, technical service and marketing/sales with product regulatory compliance expertise
• Respond to internal /external inquiries related to regulatory compliance
Qualifications:  
• 5 -10+ years product stewardship experience in chemical industry
• Knowledge of North America chemical regulations essential;  global chemical regulations preferable
• Familiarity with product stewardship risk management practices preferred 
• Minimum BS Toxicology, Chemistry, Biology, Polymers  or related scientific discipline
• Organized, independent, detailed oriented, capable of working under pressure   on multiple tasks and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Enthusiastic with   demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Demonstrated skills in conflict management and the ability to resolve issues.

 Telles™ Product Development Extrusion Scientist

Key Job Responsibilities:
• New Product Development of  Telles™ Extrusion  grades to support business development reps  translating  customer needs into product solutions:
o Formulate compounds based on solid knowledge base of polymer additives
o Scale up formulations on traditional compounding equipment
o Qualify  film, foam, sheet compounds  at customers
o Establish  quality control testing methods
• Communication: Effectively interact with global teams and customers to translate information and facilitate team based approach 
Teamwork:  Work as part of a global technology team to translate customer    learnings   into product requirements.
• Polymer Testing:   Work with internal and external polymer testing labs to develop new technology platforms and establish new testing methodologies.
• Quality Control:  Work with customer base to resolve processing and quality issues related to new technology platforms.
• New Technology Development:  Use creative and innovative approaches to develop new technology platforms for next generation of Telles™ products.
Qualifications:
• In-depth knowledge and direct commercial   experience of 5 – 10 years in polymer   formulation for extrusion    applications.
• Solid understanding of   polymer processing   technology to support customer trials.   
• Able to manage commercial customers projects through teamwork with sales, manufacturing and R&D team.
• Proven experience in new product development.
• Minimum of MS. Degree   polymer science or related field.
• Organized, independent, detailed oriented, capable of working under pressure  on multiple tasks and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Enthusiastic with   demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good interpersonal and negotiating skills.

 Sr. Process / Production Engineer, Compounding
The Sr. Process / Production Engineer will assume responsibility for the scale-up and transfer of Compounding Technology from the Development Laboratory to the manufacturing sites.  The incumbent will also be responsible for the day to day operations at the tolling operations.
Job Responsibilities
• Hands-on Process scale-up efforts to the Toll Manufacturing sites
• Oversight of the day to day production and testing at the Toll Compounding site.
• Responsible for overall production rates, yields and adherence to schedule for on time delivery to the customer.
• Responsible for project planning and execution with focus on budget, schedule and safety.
Required Skills & Experience
• Requirements include a Bachelors or Masters Degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field. 
• Five to eight years of relevant work experience.
• An in depth Knowledge of twin screw compounding equipment and processes a must. 
• Knowledge of polymer testing protocols and color matching a plus.
Additional Requirements
• Hands-on well organized self starter with the ability to manage day to day operations in a contract manufacturing environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of cross functional teams including Product Development, Technical Service and Business Development functions.  
• Position may require extensive domestic travel or relocation to the Toll Manufacturing site.
The successful candidate will report to the Metabolix / Telles Director of Manufacturing and Development.
This position will be located at the Telles headquarters in Lowell, MA but may transfer to the Toll manufacturing location (TBD).

Research Scientist 
 We are seeking qualified, highly motivated individuals to join our multidisciplinary research team as research scientists to engineer advanced industrial oilseed crops for co-production of biobased plastics and chemicals.  This opportunity is available in our facilities in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.   

Successful candidates will possess the following skill set:
• PhD in plant molecular biology, or related subject area, and a minimum of two years post-graduate experience.
• Prior experience in plant transformation and/or plant metabolism with hands-on experience in a wide range of molecular biology and biochemical techniques.
• Extensive experience with designing and constructing complex plant transformation vectors
• Some prior management experience of lab personnel is necessary.  Must be willing to take a hands-on approach in lab AND manage junior scientists and/or lab personnel
• Prior experience with oilseeds is an advantage
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team are essential
